The Gospel

Our central message is the Gospel, the good news embodied in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Just what is the Gospel?

Here's a summary, taken from the book The Deliberate Church by Mark Dever and Paul Alexander:

God is our holy Creator and righteous Judge. He created us to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever, but we have all sinned, both in Adam as our representative head, and in our own individual actions (Romans 5:12, 3:23). We therefore deserve death--spiritual separation from God in hell (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:3)--and are in fact already spiritually stillborn, helpless in our sins (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:6-8; Ephesians 2:1), and in need of God to impart spiritual life to us (Ezekiel 37:1-14,; John 3:3). But God sent His Son Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man (Philippians 2:5-11), to die the death that we deserved, and He raised Him up for our justification, proving that He was God's Son (Romans 5:1; 1:4). In order to have Christ's perfect righteousness credited to us, and the penalty of our sins accounted to Him, we must repent of our sins and believe in Jesus Christ for Salvation (2 Corinthians 5:21; Mark 1:14-15).

--The Deliberate Church, 28 (emphasis added)

When we are justified by faith in Jesus Christ, we have peace with God, we obtain access to His grace, and we rejoice in the hope of His glory (Romans 5:1-2). This means that we will one day see the glory of God, and live in His very presence for all eternity as His redeemed children.

Please take the time to look up the Bible references mentioned above and see for yourself that the Gospel is indeed the hope of the world, the central message of the Bible and the great responsibility of the church. You can hear the gospel, proclaimed from various scripture texts, by listening to any of the messages in our resources.
